FREAK OUT IN CUCAMONGA - Synopsis
The documentary, "Freak Out in Cucamonga," chronicles the early years of Paul Buff and Frank Zappa as independent artists in early 1960's Southern California. Using his own unique 5-track recording machine, Paul Buff engineered legendary surf songs like "Wipeout" and "Pipeline." A young Frank Zappa also created his own musical playground, forming The Mothers of Invention and solidifying his philosophy of "Freaking Out."
Director Adam Fiorenza and Producer Derek Miley, both former local residents of Rancho Cucamonga, researched the local music scene and realized the city needed to "FREAK OUT" once more. A concert was held showcasing musicians from the past and present, honoring both Paul Buff and Frank Zappa.
